As part of Bradford County Fire Rescue’s Community Paramedicine Program, we provide free Narcan kits to help combat opioid overdoses and save lives. Each kit includes Narcan (naloxone) nasal spray, detailed instructions on how to administer it, information on harm reduction strategies, and a guide to recognizing the signs of an overdose. These lifesaving kits are available at any Bradford County fire station or can be requested directly from our team.
About Narcan (naloxone)
Naloxone, also known by its brand name Narcan, is a safe medication that is widely used by emergency medical personnel and other first responders to prevent opioid overdose deaths. Narcan rapidly reverses an opioid overdose by attaching to opioid receptors, reversing, and blocking the effects of the drug. The medicine only remains effective for 30 – 90 minutes and will have no effect on someone who does not have opioids present in their system.
